ABOUT US
In the summer of 2009, Bud and his wife Georgia were asked to umpire little league games in their
home community of Monticello. It was this experience that sparked a renewed interest in the game.
While umpiring one summer night, one of the little league parent/coaches asked Bud if he knew of any
empty buildings in town where a batting cage could be for off-season training. Discussions of batting
cage locations soon led Bud to ask, “What if the cages were oversized and what if there was available
space for an indoor practice field?” Soon after, Bud and his wife Georgia formed the Eastern Iowa
Sports Facility to give area youth a place to practice and improve their knowledge of baseball and
softball.

Mission
Our mission at Eastern Iowa Sports Facility is to provide the opportunity to enhance your skills in
sports. It was important to us to give area youth the same opportunities as those afforded youth in
urban communities. Whether your goal is to land a college scholarship or just improve your skill level,
we have the instruction and facilities to meet your needs.
Owners Bud and Georgia Johnson have
always had an affinity for baseball. Bud's
high school team, the Albert
City-Truesdale Hurricanes, played in the
1971 state tournament which was played in
Cedar Rapids in former Kingston Stadium.
Georgia's brother, Jim Van Scoyoc, is a
former national high school baseball coach
of the year from Norway, Iowa. The
feature film "The Final Season" profiled
Jim's career and his legendary record of
12 state baseball championships.
